Free staff attendance sheet in Excel
Need a quick staff attendance sheet? Here's a clean, free monthly attendance register in Excel you can download and start using right away — no sign-up. It works as a daily attendance sheet, a muster roll, or a simple employee attendance format for any small team.
What's in the sheet
- A row per employee with columns for all 31 days of the month.
- Mark each day P (present), A (absent), H (half day), L (leave) or WO (weekly off).
- A Total Present column that adds up automatically (half-days counted as 0.5).
- Space for company name and month at the top, and a legend at the bottom.
How to use it
- Fill in your company name and the month.
- Type each employee's name and designation.
- Each day, mark P/A/H/L/WO against each person.
- The Total Present column updates on its own — use it to work out pay at month-end.
The catch with a spreadsheet
An Excel attendance sheet is a fine start, but it relies on someone remembering to fill it in, and it can't tell you whether a person was actually at work when they were marked present. As your team grows, chasing the sheet each day — and copying it into payroll — gets tedious and error-prone.
A simpler way: let staff mark their own attendance
Rosterbook does the same job automatically. Your staff check in and out from their own phones, and the app confirms they're at the work site using GPS — so the register fills itself, honestly. It then turns those days straight into payslips, with overtime, leave and advances handled. It's the difference between a sheet you maintain and an attendance register that maintains itself.
- No manual marking — staff check in from their phone.
- GPS confirms they're on-site; location is read only at the punch.
- Monthly payslips generated for you, with Excel & Tally exports on the Business plan.
- Available in Hindi and English.
Free for up to 3 staff. Set up in minutes.
